From sea grape and beach paintings to octopus and tiki illustrations, I've been in a nautical state of mind for the past several months. I'm not sure how I progressed from the beaches of Sanibel Island to 19th Century New England whaling, but I've been fascinated by these public domain images held by the Nantucket Historical Association. They are taken from journals and logs of whaling ships in the mid-1800s. Take a peek:
